Star Gate, Tachyon's personal meditation tool

It's six in the morning and the house is still asleep. There's a meditation cushion on the rug, a low table in front of it, and on the table a single object, the Star Gate. You sit down, look at it for a while, then close your eyes. Nothing else is around you, no phone, no to-do list. Just you, the quiet and one steady point in front of you.

What it is

The Star Gate is a tachyonized object that Tachyon places among its meditation tools and its pieces for the room. The maker calls it a tool for personal transformation. You could compare it to the candle many people look at when they meditate: it gives your attention one place to return to. The Star Gate does a similar job, except you don't need to light it and it lasts for years.

A disk goes with you and you lie inside a Cocoon. The Star Gate stays in the room. You can have it in front of you while you sit, then leave it on a shelf, where it's simply a handsome object.

What Tachyon says

Tachyon says in its product description on the Planet Tachyon shop that the Star Gate is a tool for personal transformation and that it steadies the energy of the space around it. The maker features it on the shop's front page among its selected products, and lists it with both its meditation range and its pieces for the room, such as Sun Spots.

According to the manufacturer, tachyonization is permanent, so the Star Gate never needs charging or renewing. Tachyon describes tachyonized objects as things that attract and organise energy around them. Put simply, an ordinary stone is just a stone, while the Star Gate, in the maker's words, is a tool that works in the room.

How people use it

Most often in meditation. People set the Star Gate in front of them on a small table or on the floor, settle into a comfortable position and look at it for a few minutes. Then they close their eyes and sit quietly. Some rest their palms either side of it, others bring it a little closer. There's no fixed method; everyone finds their own.

Others keep it permanently in the middle of the room where they do yoga, meditate or give treatments. In a studio you can place it in the centre of a circle, with the group sitting around it. At home, people put it on the desk or on a living-room shelf, where they see it during the day.

The Star Gate pairs well with other pieces. If you have an Ultra Cocoon, you can keep it in the room where you lie in the Cocoon. With Sun Spots it makes a larger set-up for the whole space. More tools for sitting in quiet are in the Meditation category.

Who it suits

The Star Gate suits people who meditate regularly and want one distinctive object in front of them to come back to every day. It's also a tool for studios, practitioners and teachers who work with people in one room.

As a premium product, it's mostly bought by people who already know Tachyon and have a disk or a pendant at home. Care

Dust the Star Gate now and then with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid scouring pads and harsh chemicals. Stand it somewhere steady where it can't fall, and wrap it in soft fabric when you move house. According to the manufacturer, it never needs recharging.
