SOKOLHow people use it
- Under clothing through a long day at the desk.
- In the evening on the sofa, winding down after work.
- On long car or train journeys when you sit for hours.
- During gardening, housework or other jobs that keep you bent over.
Who it suits
- You sit a lot and want a disk on your back all day.
- You want a way to wear a large Ultra disk that keeps it in place.
- You already use Ultra disks at home and want one with you when you're out.
It's seven in the evening and you're finally getting up from the desk you've sat at for most of the day. Before you sink into the sofa, you fasten a wide belt round your waist and slide the disk to the small of your back, where a day at the computer tends to make itself felt. Then you put a film on and forget the belt is there. That's an ordinary evening with the ULTRA Liberty Belt.
What it is
The ULTRA Liberty Belt holds a large Ultra disk in one place on your body, on your back or your stomach. It works a bit like a bum bag, except that instead of a pocket for keys it carries a tachyonised disk. You wrap the belt round you, fasten it and move the disk to where you want it.
At Tachyon, Ultra disks are the stronger version of the silica disks. If you already know one, such as the 7.5 cm silica disk, the belt is a way to wear a disk all day without it slipping out of a pocket or moving about.
Alongside the standard version there's the ULTRA Liberty Belt X with two disks, which Tachyon calls Extra Strength. If the belt wears out over time, the manufacturer also sells a replacement Liberty Belt without disks, so you can move your disk across.
What Tachyon says
Tachyon describes the belt in its product listing on the Planet Tachyon shop as a belt for the back, made for people who want a disk right where they feel they need it after a long day of sitting or work. The manufacturer also features it on the shop's home page.
All of Tachyon's descriptions start from its process of tachyonisation. If you'd like to know what the manufacturer means by it, we explain it in plain words in What is a tachyon.
How people use it
Most people wear it under their clothes during the day, especially on days spent sitting. They slide the disk to the lower back and fasten the belt so it holds without pressing.
In the evening many put it on for the sofa or an armchair while they relax. Others turn the disk to the front and wear it on the stomach, for instance while reading. It's handy when travelling too, on a long drive or a train journey, since nobody can see it under a jacket.
People who garden or do other jobs bent over often wear it then as well. In that case it's worth fastening the belt a little tighter so the disk doesn't slide as you move.
Who it suits
The Liberty Belt suits people who spend much of the day sitting and want a disk on their back without holding it or sticking it on. It's also useful if you already use Ultra disks at home and want one with you at work.
If you'd like the stronger version with two disks, go for the X. Other belts and scarves are in the Belts and scarves category. If you're putting together a set for home and work, try the kit builder, and if you're not sure where to start, the quiz can help. For an evening rest lying down, there's also the Ultra Cocoon.
Care
Take the disk out before cleaning, and look after the belt according to the manufacturer's care label. The disk only needs a wipe with a damp cloth and time to dry in the air. When you're not wearing the belt, roll it up and keep it somewhere dry so the disk doesn't rub against other things. There's more about disks in Caring for silica disks.
